Follatères nature reserve
Subject to the influences of the continental climate and the Léman climate, a true paradise of nature, this site is teeming with varied and uncommon animal and plant species. It is visited every year not only by many walkers but also by scientists and university students.

From February, the blooms follow one another to reach their peak at the end of spring, in the song of nightingales. Then come the golden tones of summer, drowned in the stridulation of cicadas. The late season brings even more sensations: symphony of autumn colors, scent of crushed hyssop, ballet of migrating raptors...

Particular fauna
Many species are visible in the Follatères reserve. The arid slopes are traversed by clouds of butterflies: Sailor Flambé, Grand Apollon, Aurore, Provence Lemon, Damier, Sylvandre, etc. The mowed meadows shelter bird species threatened in Europe: The Torcol fourmilier, the Shrike, the Wheatear, but also common buzzards or kestrels. The high pastures host all the birds of the Alps: the Wheatear, the Rock Blackbird, the Niverolle, the Yellow-billed Chough or the Red-billed Chough. Chamois and ibex, golden eagles, partridges, hares, lynxes, owls,...
