Property Description
This unique single-family home was built in 2003 by the renowned architects Aschwanden + Schürer, at the foot of Gonzen, above Sargans.
The monolithic design is inspired by the mighty Gonzen rock above and a boulder. The internal layout of the house surprises with an unexpected spatial quality, based on a central four-flight staircase and the arrangement of the rooms around it. The open spaces adjacent to the stairs are therefore at different heights and have different room heights, leading to strong spatial references and a generous sense of space throughout the house.
The building integrates perfectly into the landscape, together with the almost exclusively used mineral materials, such as the exposed concrete facade.
The house has been extended by an exclusive stainless steel infinity pool with direct landscaping and garden design. From almost the entire garden and all living areas, there is an incredible view over the Sarganserland towards Luzisteig, the Bündner Herrschaft, and the 5 villages.
The house is accessible either via its own double garage with 2 additional outdoor parking spaces or via the side natural stone granite staircase and the main entrance. On the living floor, there is, in addition to the entrance with guest toilet, a dining area with seating, the kitchen, and the light-flooded living room. The gallery floor houses two more rooms and a bathroom with a bathtub. The bedrooms and the second bathroom with shower are located on the sleeping floor, which is situated above the basement with various ancillary rooms. Each room is directly accessible via the central staircase. The gypsum and concrete showcase the rooms optimally. The colors red for the kitchen, green and blue with mosaic for the two bathrooms have been skillfully used as color elements. Additionally, the entrance area is clad with warm elm wood.
The rock at Gonzen is a well-documented architectural masterpiece and a generous, modern home in a dreamlike sunny, quiet, and unobstructed location.
