This unique single-family house was built in 2003 by the renowned architects Aschwanden + Schürer at the foot of the Gonzen mountain, above Sargans. The monolithic design is based on the mighty Gonzen rock above or a boulder. The interior layout of the house surprises with an unexpected spatial quality, due to a central four-flight staircase and the arrangement of the rooms around it. The open rooms adjacent to the stairs are therefore located at different heights and have different ceiling heights, which leads to strong spatial references and a generous feeling of space throughout the house. The building, together with the almost exclusively used mineral materials, such as the exposed concrete facade, blends perfectly into the landscape. The house has been extended by an exclusive stainless steel infinity pool with direct landscaping and garden design. From almost the entire garden and all living rooms you have an incredible view over the Sarganserland towards Luzisteig, the Bündner Herrschaft and the 5 villages. The house is accessible either via its own double garage with 2 additional outdoor parking spaces or via the lateral natural stone granite staircase and the main entrance. On the living floor, next to the entrance hall with guest toilet, there is a dining area with seating area, the kitchen and the bright living room. On the gallery floor there are two more rooms and a bathroom with bathtub. The bedrooms and the second bathroom with shower are located on the sleeping floor, which is above the basement with various utility rooms. Each room is directly accessible via the central staircase. The plaster and concrete perfectly highlight the rooms. The colours red for the kitchen, green and blue with mosaic for the two bathrooms were skilfully used as colour elements. In addition, the entrance area is clad with warm elm wood. The rock on the Gonzen is a multiply documented architectural masterpiece and a generous, modern home in a fantastic sunny, quiet and unobstructed panoramic location.
