Architectural concept:
Located between the wooded hillside and the banks of the eco-district of the Old Paper Mill, the Prairie 4 buildings are anchored in a green and quality landscape. The built complex consists of 4 buildings, representing a total of 120 apartments, connected by a common base housing an underground parking lot. This zero-carbon project hosts housing ranging from 1 room to 5.5 rooms that benefit from several orientations or openings onto green spaces. The ground floors benefit from a private outdoor extension. A communal space is also arranged between the buildings. The outdoor arrangements on the base are designed for residents with quality outdoor spaces for each housing unit, a communal space for gatherings, and conducive to conviviality. Vegetable gardens complement the outdoor space offerings for residents, in the heart of the Prairies neighborhood. Building V in Prairie 5 hosts a common room allowing residents to gather and organize private events.
Typological concept:
The arrangement of generous green spaces allows for a quality environment for high-end apartments, all benefiting from 2.60m ceiling height and equipped with a double-flow ventilation system. All apartments benefit from a generous living room extended onto a balcony or terrace. All apartments are fully equipped with electric blinds, have their own cellar, an individual washing/drying column, and storage cabinets at the entrance. Some of the housing units also have a storage room, allowing for maximum storage optimization. All these criteria improve the quality of life for future occupants.
Landscaping concept:
The landscaping of the Prairie neighborhood is organized around a cultivated North-South axis that connects the wooded hillside to the banks of the Gérine. This cultivated axis is articulated around a network of soft ground circulations, permeable surfaces, vegetable gardens planted with isolated landmark trees and ancient fruit varieties, and a large area of flowering meadow. This urban space offers areas that can be appropriated by residents and can accommodate spontaneous activities. The plantings consist of clusters of indigenous species and ornamental plants, punctuated by clumps and a few major stem trees.
Location
Marly is a locality and a municipality in the Swiss canton of Fribourg, located in the district of Sarine.
Marly is located 4 km (as the crow flies) south of the city of Fribourg and at an altitude of 627 m. The municipality extends along the valley of the Gérine to its mouth into the Sarine, as well as on the adjacent molasses of the Fribourg plateau. The territory of Marly extends over 7.7 km.
Bus line No. 8 connects the eco-district to Fribourg and even continues to Corminboeuf. There is a frequency of 15 minutes.
The central part of the territory is occupied by the valley of the Gérine, wide up to 800 m, which flows from east to west. The course of the river is engaged in a canal that protects the bottom of the valley which was often flooded in the past. Downstream, the Gérine flows through a narrow neck formed by the plateau of La Grangette and Marly-le-Petit before flowing into the Sarine.
To the south of the valley of the Gérine extends the territory of the municipality towards the bordering forest heights: Bois de l'Église, Vers le Bois (with 730 m altitude, the highest point of Marly) and Bois de Monteynan (704 m altitude). These woods are crossed by small streams like the Ruisseau de Copy. To the north, a high plateau of about 1 km wide joins the bottom of the valley of the Gérine. This plateau drops through multiple meanders of the course of the Sarine through the molasse strata. The slope's elevation reaches 100 m in some places and is lined with sandstone rocks. Along the Sarine runs the western and northern border of the municipality.
