For generations, flowers have been sold at the intersection of Wiesenstrasse and Schorenstrasse. Now, two greenhouses in the garden still remind of the former use and local history. Along Wiesenstrasse stretches the Laubenhaus, built entirely of wood. It houses 25 rental apartments. The apartments, ranging from 2.5 to 5.5 rooms, are accessed via a covered walkway, each with a private outdoor area. The covered walkway access to the apartments promotes social contacts.
In accordance with the constructive wooden construction, the floor plan of the Laubenhaus is characterized by a clear and pragmatic spatial structure:
A direct entrance to the living and dining area, a central zone with shower and storage options, as well as rooms oriented towards the garden.
The layered walls and ceilings easily meet the requirements for sound, fire protection, and installation guidance. Load-bearing facades and longitudinal walls take on the load-bearing responsibilities. The centrally located core space connects all rooms of the apartment. The modular floor plan organization allows for the creation of apartments of various sizes. Each apartment has a generous veranda that positively impacts the liveliness (social security) of the outdoor spaces. The wooden architecture forms an expressive yet calm frame, conveying a touch of sophistication and sovereign presence. The materials are used raw and without refinement, radiating the privilege of authenticity.
Floor-to-ceiling, simply beautiful, double-leaf wooden windows let light and warmth fall onto the seamless floor and also provide the necessary retreat in this urban context. Plants, hammocks, and furniture enliven the veranda architecture and give the shape lightness, livability, and coziness. Wooden elements separating the verandas ensure privacy between the individual units. Outdoor curtains give the private outdoor areas a high value for staying and living due to their texture.
The centerpiece of the outdoor space consists of two greenhouses with a fountain and sandbox. Next door, a large meadow stretches out. Lushly planted flower beds complete the overall picture at specific points. Along Wiesenstrasse, the typical street planting continues with a row of trees. The mailbox system and the barrier-free access from the sidewalk to the Laube refer to the house entrance.
