Sax is a locality in the political municipality of Sennwald, Canton of St. Gallen.
The village is located at the foot of the Kreuzberge and is architecturally one of the best-preserved farming villages in the Rhine Valley. The breathtaking mountain panorama with the Chrüzberge, Staubere, and Hoher Kasten stands tall and powerful against the vastness of the Rhine plain. As the northernmost municipality in the Werdenberg region, Sennwald borders the municipalities of Gams and Buchs to the south, the Principality of Liechtenstein to the east, the Rhine Valley to the north, and the Toggenburg region to the southwest.
With an area of 41.56 km2, Sennwald is the third largest of the Werdenberg municipalities after Grabs and Wartau. Sennwald is also known for its favorable tax policy.
Sennwald is located in the middle of the Rhine Valley and has two full highway connections to the A13 motorway. The proximity to the border station Buchs as well as the good public bus connections in the Rhine Valley, the Principality of Liechtenstein, and the Vorarlberg area, along with the strengths of the local economic area, offer extremely interesting regional and international perspectives.
