General information about Fiesch
The municipality of Fiesch – the gateway to Goms – lies on the banks of the Weisswasser, which springs from the Fiescher Glacier. In the 19th century, the tourist development began thanks to the panorama on the Eggishorn, the Märjelensee, and the nearby Jungfrau region in Fiesch. Since then, the tourist center of the valley has exerted a great attraction on athletes and mountain lovers.
The municipality is part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. At the summit of the Eggishorn (2,927 m above sea level), there is a magnificent view of the entire length of the Aletsch Glacier, the smaller Fiescher Glacier, as well as the mighty peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau up to the Matterhorn.
