Wettingen is located on the right bank of the Limmat, just before the Klus of Baden. The majority of the settlement area extends over the Wettingerfeld, a flat gravel plain surrounded by natural boundaries: to the west and south by the Limmat, to the north by the steep southern slope of the Lägern (859 m above sea level), a foothill of the folded Jura, and to the east by the Sulperg (569 m above sea level).
