Ausserbinn is located in the Goms district in the Binntal at 1,304 m above sea level, and due to its very sunny location in southern Wallis, it has a mild and dry climate. The well-known neighboring municipality of Ernen has made a name for itself beyond the national borders through classical concerts. The village image in Ausserbinn is characterized by typical Walliser houses, barn-barns, and storage buildings. The mountain village is well connected all year round by a well-developed cantonal road and public transport (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Fiesch and Postbus).

General information about Ausserbinn

Until 2005, Ausserbinn was an independent municipal community, which merged with the municipalities of Ausserbinn, Ernen, Mühlebach, and Steinhaus in 2004. The mountain villages of Binn, Ernen, and Grengiols launched the project <>. Nine years later, the park was expanded by the municipalities of Bister, Blitzingen, and Niederwald. The Binntal Landscape Park was thus the first regional nature park in the canton of Wallis. Since the active marketing of the <>, the region has gained economic significance. Emigration in the Binntal could thus be curbed. The Binntal is a beautiful hiking and recreational area and has a unique mineral occurrence in the Alps.
