Highlights of the property
Location and accessibility
The Rosswald is located on an extremely sunny high plateau. The village, which is now tourist-oriented, is situated at around 1,800 m above sea level and belongs to the municipality of Termen. The high plateau can be reached in summer by road or by aerial cable car/gondola from the valley station in Ried-Brig. In winter, the Rosswald is only accessible by aerial cable car (gondola). Postbuses run year-round from Brig to the valley station of the cable cars (LRR). The single-lane mountain road can only be driven to the central, paid parking lot in summer. The Alpe Rosswald is car-free and is also a member of the Magic Pass.
The chalet is located in a quiet, idyllic location at the upper edge of the holiday resort and just a few steps from the ski slope. From the paid parking lot at the entrance to the village, you can reach the house in about ten minutes on foot. Luggage and groceries can be conveniently transported by the organized supply trips, which usually take place in autumn (mostly in October). During this time, access on certain public paths is permitted at specified times.
Description of the chalet
In the midst of the impressive Valais mountain landscape, this inviting chalet from 1976 is located – a place full of peace, security, and alpine charm.
The house is presented in a well-maintained condition and combines solid construction with traditional style. The basement was built in robust solid construction, while the upper floors are made of characteristic wooden block construction. The house is covered with an Eternit roof from the construction period, which remains true to the typical appearance of the chalet. A Swedish stove in the living area provides cozy warmth, complemented by modern infrared heaters.
The heart of the house is the bright, open living space with a cozy atmosphere. Here, the living area, dining area, and stylish kitchen come together harmoniously. From the living room, you can directly access the natural cellar – ideal for storage and usable as a laundry room.
A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor, which is also accessible via a separate entrance from the back of the house. This area offers a small corridor with an additional wood stove, two cozy bedrooms – one with balcony access – and a bathroom with bathtub, sink, and toilet.
The balcony offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding alpine world and the Rhone Valley. Especially the evening hours with spectacular sunsets invite you to end the day in a relaxed mood.
The spacious outdoor seating area right next to the chalet provides ideal conditions for sociable hours in the open air with the built-in grill. Whether playing, eating, or relaxing – here you enjoy pure nature.

General information about the Rosswald
In the past, the Rosswald was used by mountain farmers as pasture and alpine pasture. The slopes towards Gantertal served intensive timber production. In the mid-20th century, ski pioneers discovered the Rosswald. Due to the influx of tourism, a cable car and the first slopes were built. The ski area was expanded in the 80s to 2,600 m above sea level, and at the same time, the aerial cable car was renovated. In the past 30 years, numerous chalets have been built on the Rosswald. The tourist resort is a popular hiking area in summer and a hidden gem for carefree winter experiences in a car-free zone in winter. The panorama of the Rosswald is unparalleled, with views deep into the Rhone Valley and the Aletsch massif as well as the Simplon region showing an impressive mountain backdrop.
