Historic turreted house with character and charm
This unique, listed building, built in 1892 as a "villa with offices", is the last remaining building of the former Erlen Brewery.
It is an impressive example of historical industrial architecture in the style of a 19th-century castle-like brewery building with a carefully designed brick facade, a plaster base, and decorative elements such as elaborate cornices and door and window lintels.
The building was converted into four small apartments in 1987, while some historical elements were preserved, including the rare concrete vault and the original staircase with wooden handrail.
Since 2005, the house has been lovingly converted into an elegant single-family home by a couple of artists and architects. Highlights include a spacious living room with a stucco ceiling and fine parquet flooring, individually designed rooms with harmonious colours and artistic ceiling features.
The existing kitchens and bathrooms allow for flexible use, whether as a residential and commercial building, as a single-family home or as a division into several residential units. The elevated location, just 200 m from the Landsgemeindeplatz, offers a fantastic view of the old town, the valley and the Glarus mountains from the upper floors.
