Historic tower house with character and charm
This unique and listed building, built in 1892 as a << villa with offices >>, is the last remaining building of the former Erlen brewery.
It is an impressive example of historic industrial architecture in the style of a 19th-century castle-type brewery building with a carefully designed brick facade, a plaster base, and decorative elements such as cornices and elaborate door and window lintels.
The building was converted into four small apartments in 1987, while some historical elements were preserved, including the rare concrete vault and the original staircase with wooden railing.
Since 2005, the house has been lovingly transformed into an elegant single-family home by a couple of artists and architects. Highlights include a spacious living room with a stucco ceiling and refined parquet flooring, individually designed rooms with harmonious colors and artistic ceiling objects.
The existing kitchens and bathrooms allow for flexible use, whether as a residential and commercial building, as a single-family home, or as a division into several residential units. The elevated location, just 200 m from the Landsgemeindeplatz, offers a fantastic view of the old town, the valley, and the Glarus mountains from the upper floors.
