A little history
The castle forms an imposing architectural group that dominates the village of Chardonne.
According to available archival documents, the original building (strong house) was built in 1527.
An extension was realized in 1624 with the southern staircase tower; new restorations followed from 1910, especially with the reconstruction of the West Tower (keep) by architect H. Collombet. At that time, a painter's studio was also set up on the 4th floor of the keep. Redesigns in this room continued in 1965, with the installation of wooden paneling and wall benches, the renovation of the fireplace, and the laying of hexagonal floor tiles.
Only in 1974 was the 5th floor of the West Tower created by architect R. Bashler, which forms the current penthouse apartment.
After the Castle of Chardonne was owned over time by the families De Sturler, De Wattwyl, and De Muralt, it was converted into a PPE in 1975.
