Bex presents a great diversity of climates and landscapes, ranging from the banks of the Rhône (395 m above sea level) to the summit of the Diablerets (3,210 m). The Avançon, the river that crosses the municipality, connects this diversity of places and ecosystems. In terms of area, Bex is the third largest municipality in the canton. To date, the municipality of Bex has more than 8,000 inhabitants, of which about 6,800 reside in the Bourg and 1,200 live in eight hamlets (Le Chêne, Fenalet, Les Posses, Frenières, Les Plans, Le Châtel, Les Dévens, and Vasselin). Equidistant from Lausanne and Sion, the City of Salt, ideally located in the Chablais, is served by the CFF line from Simplon and the A9 motorway. It also benefits from access by air thanks to the aerodrome. Bex is the southernmost municipality in the canton of Vaud, and its climate resembles that of Valais, hence the presence in its plain sector of several vineyards and large chestnut groves. Whether in the plain, along the banks of the Rhône, in the forests bordering the Avançon river, or on the alpine pastures, hiking enthusiasts are welcome: 300 km of paths, themed trails, trekking routes, beautiful winter hiking destinations, and bike trails welcome them throughout the seasons. https://www.bex.ch/
