Embd is a typical Valais mountain village with steep slopes and terraced hamlets. The village is located on the western slope of the front Mattertal, opposite Grächen, at an altitude of 1,358 m above sea level. In just 30 minutes, you can reach Embd from Visp by car or public transport. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn runs from Visp towards Zermatt to Kalpetran. The scattered settlement consists of just over a dozen hamlets.
