Energy Supply & Sustainability – The Sun House Concept
The house at Allmendstrasse 34 is a multi-family house and belongs to the solar development Allmend. It has been equipped with the proven energy storage from Jenni Energietechnik and has a thermal solar system with a central seasonal heat storage (111,000 liters of water). The solar collectors on the roof supply the building year-round with room heat (21 °C) and hot water – without external energy supply.
The heat distribution is done via a low-temperature underfloor heating system, which draws its energy from the lower layers of the storage. The return of the cooled heating water is also done layer-wise – this ensures maximum efficiency and preservation of the temperature stratification in the storage.
The hot water is provided via integrated stainless steel boilers in the storage. These are heated by the surrounding storage water and work on the principle of a continuous flow heater. A thermal mixing valve ensures that the water at the tap is never too hot.
The system operates exclusively on solar power. Thanks to the high-quality storage insulation, the temperature remains stable even in winter. Only in extremely rare exceptional cases can heat be supplied if needed.
A prerequisite for this system is a very low energy requirement, which is achieved through the excellent building envelope with outstanding insulation (facade, windows, roof).
The building meets the standard of the 2000-watt society and received top marks in the GEAK (Building Energy Certificate of the Cantons) for envelope and overall energy efficiency.
Conclusion: Residents enjoy independence, low operating costs, and are optimally equipped for the energy challenges of the future.
Energy Efficiency: Building Energy Certificate of the Cantons (GEAK)
This Sun House meets the standard of the 2000-watt society. Thanks to an excellently insulated building envelope, complete heating with solar energy is possible. The Building Energy Certificate of the Cantons (GEAK) confirms top marks for both the efficiency of the building envelope and overall energy efficiency.
