The location

HOMBRECHTIKON

The municipality of Hombrechtikon is located in the southeastern part of the canton of Zurich. The Zurich municipalities of Stäfa, Oetwil am See (both district of Meilen), Bubikon, Grüningen (both district of Hinwil), and Rapperswil-Jona (canton of St. Gallen) surround the municipal area.

The highest point of the municipality is Brunisberg (576 m above sea level) and the lowest point is Feldbach (417 m above sea level).

As of the end of 2024, Hombrechtikon had a total of 9,386 inhabitants.

The nearest highway connection is about 4.5 km away. Rapperswil-Jona can be reached in 12 minutes by car and Wetzikon in 16 minutes.

DIE HUEB

The hamlet of Hueb is a settlement of former farms and consists of eight residential buildings and some barns, stables, and commercial buildings. Hueb is located away from the cantonal road between Hombrechtikon and Grüningen, right at the northern edge of Hombrechtikon, adjacent to the municipal area of Grüningen. The Huebstrasse is only used by residents of Hueb and neighboring hamlets, as well as a few insiders and excursionists. There are various biodiversity areas around the house.

DAS LÜTZELSEEGEBIET

The Lützelsee area, with its moors and small lakes, is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the canton and is home to rare animal and plant species. The area is protected as a cantonal nature reserve by regulation. The moors are traditionally used by farmers as hay meadows, which is important for the preservation and promotion of biodiversity and for the landscape aspect. The Lützelsee area serves as a local recreation area, and the lake is used for swimming and fishing.
