Location
The urban piece of Prairie 1 is located in a newly developed area in the heart of the neighborhood, characterized by a large open planted space. The landscaping is organized around a cultivated North-South axis that connects the wooded hillside to the banks of the Gérine. This cultivated axis is articulated around a network of soft circulations on permeable ground, vegetable gardens planted with isolated landmark trees and ancient fruit varieties, and a large area of flowering meadow.
To the north and west, Prairie 1 is built in relation to a more urban environment: the square of the old paper mill. The development offers a network of friendly and shaded squares in continuity with the activities on the ground floor of the buildings.
In the heart of the block, Prairie 1 offers two large open and free collective spaces linked to the common room and the future activities of the buildings. On the edge, a generous planted fringe allows to maintain the privacy of the ground floors by creating a vegetative filter and embellishing the internal circulations.
Marly is a welcoming, active, and diverse municipality, both economically and socially. It is a bit of a city in the countryside, offering multiple opportunities for leisure, sports, and relaxation in nature.
This new ecological neighborhood, spread over more than 13 hectares, will welcome 800 inhabitants in its first phase and will ultimately offer housing for about 2,500 people, as well as jobs, shops, and activities.
The project of the Old Paper Mill, the first eco-district in the canton of Fribourg, brings a new way of life to Marly. Articulated around three main addresses, the Place de l'Ancienne Papeterie, the Place des Moulins, and the Place de la Gérine, it brings together housing, services, shops, as well as a regional swimming pool. The well-being is at the center of the development of the certified OPL neighborhood.
The site is divided into two distinct parts. On one side, there is the technological park of the Marly Innovation Center, which currently hosts more than 600 employees and 150 companies, and on the other side, there will be the Eco-district of the Old Paper Mill, which is initially composed of 360 housing units, distributed in 4 distinct neighborhoods (Plugin 1 - shopping center and rental housing, Les Moulins - 7 rental buildings, Les Berges - 3 buildings in PPE and Plugin 4 - activities on the ground floor, duplex and simplex for sale, offices and rental housing as well as exclusive apartments - floors 11 to 14 of the Tower in PPE).
This beautiful expanding neighborhood benefits from a TPF bus line connecting the Fribourg train station to the eco-district with a frequency of 15 minutes, a regional swimming pool, a daycare, and a community center with social concierge services.
