In the northern part of Sternenberg, municipality of Bauma, in an extremely idyllic, quiet and sunny location, is the residential and group house "Alter Steinshof" with a total of 14 sleeping and 3 seminar rooms, an art studio, as well as an indoor pool and sauna. The main building, originally constructed in 1865, with a restaurant and an apartment above, was significantly expanded in the 1970s and again in 1998. Today, approximately 170 m² are available in the original building and over 350 m² in the extension areas (excluding the indoor pool of over 70m²). The total of 11 sanitary facilities are divided into 5 bathrooms and 6 separate toilets.

The masonry is (depending on the part of the building) plastered and painted or covered with shingles or wooden cladding. Wooden beam ceilings were installed in the original parts of the building, while concrete ceilings and/or wooden elements were used in the extensions.
Located in Sternenberg at an altitude of 860 meters above sea level, in the northern part and relatively close to the cantonal border to St. Gallen. The municipal house of Bauma, as well as post office, bank, and extensive shopping facilities are about 6 kilometers away. The post office in Bauma also offers a home service to the residents of Sternenberg.
