The property offers extraordinarily much privacy in a sunny hillside location. A short path leads from the road, where the covered parking spaces are located, upwards to a small area. Here the space opens up, and the view sweeps far into the valley. Apart from the "Scuol Palace" about 50 meters away, there are no houses in the vicinity. The Inn River flows past about 100 meters away. The magnificent nature of the Lower Engadin begins right at the front door.
Live in a church with loft character as a single-family home - and you can accommodate guests in the church tower! This is extravagant living.
The approximately 8-meter-high church section impresses with a generous, open floor plan and offers plenty of space for the dining and living area. This extends over a large part of the church space and also includes the former choir, which is elevated by a few steps. Through the large arched window at the back end of the choir, one steps out onto the large terrace.
Almost half of the church space is covered by a gallery. Below are the spacious kitchen, a bathroom, as well as the entrance and the wardrobe. Upstairs on the gallery is the master bedroom. A toilet and another bathroom are located on the ground floor of the church tower directly adjacent to the church space, completing the ground floor. Above is the "tower apartment". In the 1st and 2nd floors as well as in the attic, small bedrooms or living rooms can be set up as desired.
The church of Nairs was built in 1882 on behalf of the Archbishop of Canterbury to cater to the many English spa guests in the Lower Engadin. It remained in operation until the beginning of World War II. After secularization, architect Knapp restored the church and converted it into a residential building. Since 1985, the current owner has used the building as a holiday home and conference venue and has constantly renovated and modernized it since then.
The church of Nairs is located about 1.5 km outside of Scuol in a wooded area and near the hotel "Scuol Palace" located below by the river. In just 3 minutes by car, you can reach the mountain railways of the Scuol ski area and the Scuol/Tarasp train station, and in just under 5 minutes, you find yourself in the heart of Scuol with its many shopping options, restaurants, and bars. The golf course in Vulpera is about 1 km away, and it is another 300 meters to the outdoor swimming pool. The distance to the schools in the center of Scuol is about 3 km, and the cycling time is about 12 minutes.
Thanks to the tectonic peculiarity of the "Lower Engadin Window", over 20 mineral springs bubble from the rock in Scuol-Tarasp. With the commissioning of the spa house Tarasp in 1846, more and more distinguished guests find their way to the Lower Engadin. The house offers 300 guest beds, the latest comfort, and the splendid halls and salons that ladies and gentlemen of the world need for their appearance.
Inspired by the success of the spa house, the plan for the construction of a representative drinking hall is advanced. Architect Bernhard Simon realizes a long colonnade with mountain-side shops, large arched windows to the Inn, and, as a crowning conclusion, an octagonal, solidly built rotunda with festive columns on a high marble base, where the three springs Bonifacius, Emerita, and Lucius bubble from the wall.
The English church of Nairs completed the offer for the predominantly English guests from the year 1882, who should lack nothing. With the great economic crisis after World War II, the splendor of the spa facility gradually faded. The buildings of the former spa house are now classified as a national monument and serve, among other things, as an artist house and exhibition spaces for many artists.
