Location and accessibility
The village of Ried-Mörel is accessible year-round via a well-developed road and public transport (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Mörel, from Mörel cable car to Ried-Mörel towards Riederalp). Ried-Mörel is part of the municipality of Riederalp.
The charming Walliser house built in 1632 is located in a place called "Chilchmatte" at 1,300 m above sea level, in the center of the mountain village of Ried-Mörel, on the sunny side of the Rhone Valley. The property is situated on the year-round accessible Schulhausweg next to the grocery store and public parking in Ried-Mörel. The house can be reached on foot from the middle station of the cable car in about 5 minutes.
Description of the Walliser house
This charming house from the 17th century has been lovingly maintained over the years. It is in a well-kept condition and radiates the charm of past times.
The cozy ground floor apartment has a net living area of 50 m2 and features a corridor with a wardrobe. From here, you enter the bathroom in 70s style with bathtub, toilet, and sink, the light-filled living room with open access to the sleeping area, and the spacious kitchen with a wood stove for heating and a separate wood stove for cooking and baking. The rustic kitchen is also complemented by an electric oven with a cooktop and practical built-in cabinets. Two small bedrooms provide additional space for family or guests.
The apartment on the 2nd floor with a net living area of 52 m2 was renewed in 2017 and is accessible via the external staircase from the street side. Through the hallway with a wardrobe, you enter two small rooms, one of which has access to the balcony. A bathroom with bathtub, toilet, and sink, also in 70s style, is located next to the cozy living room with an open sleeping area. The kitchen, like the one in the ground floor apartment, is equipped with a wood stove for heating and a separate wood stove for cooking and baking, and also has an electric oven with a cooktop.
In recent years, the floors in the kitchen, hallways, and children's room have been fitted with laminate. The parents' and living rooms still have the original parquet or floorboards. The bathroom was redesigned in 2017 with PVC flooring. The balcony on the west side has been fitted with a new railing and floorboards, inviting relaxation.
The extension renewed in 2022 on the northwest side serves as a practical storage room. Both apartments are heated with wood stoves in the kitchen and electric radiators. The double-glazed windows are in good condition, and the Eternit roof should be renewed in the coming years. In 2012, a new water supply line was created from the municipal line. The wastewater pipes and electrical installations have been recently modernized.
The lovingly designed garden with seating offers a wonderful view of the Walliser mountains - perfect for relaxing and unwinding. An old Walliser storage next to the house offers various usage possibilities, such as a workshop or storage room. Additionally, a piece of "Binnenwald" belongs to the parcel.
The two cellars serve as storage and storage space. In the cellar on the north side, the laundry room is separated.
