Art of Design | TI
An extraordinary triad of granite, wood, and metal has been staged here by the renowned architect on the villa slope above Ascona. Large window fronts to the lake flood the villa with sunlight over three levels, giving it an unexpected lightness inside. The Mediterranean garden and various terraces create different relaxation zones in the outdoor space with great lake views and a holiday feeling. State-of-the-art technology combined with the use of noble materials provide the framework that this villa offers to an individualist who likes to create something special.
The villa is an ideal platform for art, with generous spaces and bright wall surfaces illuminated by sunlight from many angles. The entrance level, with access to the garden and pool, features a spacious reception lounge, as well as a bedroom with its own bathroom, which is currently designed as an office. This area is adorned with typical Ticino granite, which also characterizes the wide staircase leading to the next living level. The supporting beams of the construction are intentionally made visible in light wood. All living levels are also easily accessible by a discreetly hidden lift.
One level higher, the day area is laid out on a large living space, accentuated by a dark wooden floor throughout. The cleverly placed fireplace is visible from the living and dining area, while a large sliding wall in the living area elegantly conceals the large media center. The large corner window allows views over Ascona, and next to it, a smaller terrace can be accessed.
A large dining area inside visually extends to the covered terrace with seating, only separated by French doors that in summer dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside. To the side of the dining area, a very special kitchen has been installed, with fronts made of dark copper and equipped with all the latest appliances. Here, too, the usual standard materials have been deliberately deviated from to preserve the individuality of the house.
On the upper level, the sleeping area is found with adjacent bathrooms and an elegant dressing room, which is kept in the same dark wood as the floor throughout the area. The surfaces of the built-in wardrobes in the hallway are clad with noble leather and bright felt - individual and spectacular. In front of the main bathroom and the children's room, outdoor terraces with different views are placed.
