Master house in the heart of Geneva
This building was constructed on an old large estate founded in the 17th century with its tree-lined avenue by the syndic Jean-Louis CHOUET. Historically, there was a dwelling and farms. Originally, the constructed building is a simple pavilion in the middle of gardens, with a terrace staircase adorned with ironwork. This building was elevated and renovated around 1765, into a master house with a simple triangular pediment and a landing on the terrace of the Rhône. From 1777, it was significantly enlarged, and the estate was increased with vast outbuildings in the 19th century.
Between 2008 and 2009, the property underwent significant renovation work to reorganize this building which had been divided into several apartments by its previous owners. The building as a whole was sanitized at the level of the feet of the load-bearing walls or the framework. The roof was also recently renovated and openings were added to bring light into the attics.
Between 2008 and 2009, significant renovation work was undertaken to reorganize this building which had been divided into several apartments by its previous owners. This work was supervised by architects specialized in patrician residences to restore and respect the function of each room. The attic apartments were dismantled to create a large workshop. As part of this restoration, bathrooms were created or modernized and the kitchen redesigned. All floors, walls, woodwork, and ceilings were carefully restored. The single-glazed sash and French windows were adjusted and equipped with small seals to improve their air tightness. Formerly condemned windows were reopened and made identical to their neighbors.
The exterior arrangements of the property are particularly high quality. The forest on the northern part of the plot is regularly maintained. A beautifully landscaped terraced garden surrounds the main building. Vines have been planted on the lower part of the plot. Finally, the fields are regularly maintained by a local farmer.
The veranda already appears in old photos of the building dating from the early 20th century. It is a building flanked to the master house which can be accessed from the garden and from a workshop on the garden level.
The pool house is a recent addition dating from 2009. The building is constructed below the master house, hidden from the main terrace by the level created by the earthworks. This construction is made of raw cedar. A trellis covered with plants shelters this small construction and protects an outdoor relaxation area from the sun and wind. This building contains a summer kitchen open to the outside, a shower, and a toilet.
The construction of this building was carried out alongside the swimming pool and the technical room that allows its proper functioning. The pool is a magnificent infinity basin overlooking the teak terrace.
The water tower is a massive stone building. It historically served to supply water with pressure.
