The Cedars - Former Residence of the Painter Frédéric Rouge, between Heritage and Potential
In the midst of the village of Ollon, in the Vaud Chablais, the Villa The Cedars was built in 1870 on the initiative of Mr. Pick, an Alsatian who settled in Switzerland. For his summer house, he commissioned the Lausanne architect Besancenet, who designed an elegant building in a style of charm and character.
In 1902, the property changed hands. The painter Frédéric Rouge, in search of a larger space than his studio in Aigle, acquired it. It remained in his family until 2012, when the new owners carried out a complete renovation with the utmost respect for the history and original architecture. The villa is now listed as Nota 2 in the inventory of historical monuments of the Canton of Vaud, underscoring its heritage significance.
In 2014, the entire property underwent a comprehensive restoration that combined the preservation of elements from the era with modern comfort.
A property with dual purpose: exceptional residence and development potential
The property extends over a large plot of about 5,211m² and offers a privileged living environment in the heart of a tree-rich park. A part of 2,183 m² has a building permit for the construction of two modern villas with flat roofs. The architectural project, developed in close collaboration with the heritage protectors, has been carefully integrated into the surroundings to preserve the harmony of the place. This permit, without architect mandate, can be presented upon request.
