Visperterminen is a municipality in eastern Switzerland in the canton of Valais, located in the district of Viège. It hosts a small ski resort on its territory.
Visperterminen, the village of Heida at the entrance of the anterior valley of the Viège, situated at 1,378 m altitude, is with its authentic nature a paradise for hikers and offers a fantastic view of the immaculate whiteness of the "4,000" of the Valais and Bernese Alps.
Surrounded by the highest peaks of Switzerland, a vineyard grows at 1,150 meters altitude in Visperterminen. This is the highest vineyard in Europe. The Heida grape, a little-known variety outside the region, is cultivated here. Tasting and visits to the cellars and vineyard are possible.
Guided hiking in the highest vineyard in Europe.
Adventurous hikes through the most beautiful vineyards in Switzerland. Discovering the secrets of winemakers. Animation and information on viticulture and winemaking. Followed by a cellar visit for tasting.
The Gebidumsee lake at 2,193 m as well as the Nanztal valley and the summit of Gebidum, which is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in this magnificent region, are hiking objectives. 120 km of paths have been developed.
Ski area:
A small ski resort has been established on the territory of the municipality. A chairlift connects the locality of Giw at 1,962 m altitude. From there, a unique ski slope and a 7 km toboggan run with a 630-meter drop lead back to the station. A ski lift continues to reach the top of the ski area, on the slopes of Rothorn at 2,313 m. This offers 336 meters of elevation, with the widest choice of slopes in the area. A third ski lift completes the offer.
The winter season generally starts in mid-December and ends at the end of March. The chairlift is also in operation for the summer period from mid-June to mid-October. The station cooperates with its neighboring stations through a common package offer, via the Oberwalliser Skipass and Snowpass Valais offers.
15 km of hiking trails and snowshoe paths complete the tourist offer of the station.
In summer:
The municipality offers many opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. Culture, traditions, and customs are lived by the village population like hardly anywhere else in Valais. There are nearly 30 active clubs in the fields of sports, music, culture, and agriculture.
