This village on the right bank of the Printse overlooks the city of Sion and the hamlet of Cor.

It is divided into two parts: Baar at its top and Plan-Baar on the plateau. The many apricot orchards in this village are still irrigated by the bisse de Baar. The latter originates below the Château de Brignon and also irrigates the regions of Pravidondaz and Turin (in the municipality of Sion). Its construction predates 1456.

That year, an agreement was made between the inhabitants of Arvillard and Turin, a representative of the bishop of Sion, as well as the people of the Majorie of Brignon and Baar. The latter give the bishop and his associates permission to take water from the existing canal under certain conditions, among others the widening at their expense of the bisse.
