Köniz is located in the south of the city of Bern, with 37,955 inhabitants (Dec. 2003) it is the fourth largest municipality in the canton of Bern and the twelfth largest in all of Switzerland. The municipal area covers an area of 51 km². The municipality is considered the largest agglomeration municipality in Switzerland. Boredom does not arise in Köniz. Nature invites you to leisure activities right at your doorstep. The clubs offer a variety of activities. The beautifully located swimming pool and the Eichholz with river swimming are a good address in summer. The cultural center is located on the castle grounds. Concerts and other cultural events take place in the Haberhuus. In addition, the events in the Bernau and in Uptown on the Gurten should be mentioned. Cinemas, theaters, Bern Arena, and the Stade de Suisse are just a stone's throw away.
