The day school Thayngen and a swimming pool (Badi Unterer Reiat) are only 800 meters away. The very nearby bus stop (100 m) is served hourly by a bus to Thayngen. The tax rate of Hofen (municipality of Thayngen) is significantly below the cantonal average at 92%. The city of Schaffhausen can be reached by car in 15 minutes. The nearest larger city in Germany (Singen) is only 20 minutes away. In Thayngen itself, there are various shopping options (Coop / Migros / retailers) which can be reached in a few minutes by car. The main customs office Thayngen-Bietingen with access to the A81 motorway is only a few kilometers away.
