Meisterschwanden, the municipality
The municipality writes on its website:
"Cultural - Independent
Clubs hold a community together, are the social breeding ground for togetherness, spread fun, knowledge and a certain sporting challenge. They enable rapid integration, especially for newcomers.
There are around 50 clubs. The range on offer is accordingly diverse. The traditional gymnastics and football club is certainly one of them. Also the sailing and rowing clubs shaped by the lake, the sport fishing team and the diving group as well as the music society, the parents' association, the old people's home association and the traditional costume group. To name but a few.
In addition, a long-standing partnership is maintained with the French municipality of Saint-Claude-de-Diray.
Meitlisonntag is a beautiful tradition. This custom goes back to the courageous intervention of the Seetal women in the Second Villmergen War of 1712. In gratitude, the Bernese army commander Colonel Tscharner gave the brave fighters "three days of their own", on which they were allowed to rule over the "Mannevolch". The Meitlizyt was included in the UNESCO list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Switzerland" in 2011.
The castles, fortresses and ruins still bear witness today to the lively Middle Ages. There is the imposing hilltop castle of Lenzburg with changing exhibitions, the pretty moated castle of Hallwyl, the imposing Wildegg, the romantic Heidegg Castle or the mystical-looking ruin of Nünegg; they are just waiting to be discovered.
Meisterschwanden - living culture and history"
Meisterschwanden - On the sunny side of Lake Hallwil
The municipality writes on its website:
"Sunny-Quiet-Attractive
Even from afar, Meisterschwanden is reminiscent of holidays and relaxation. Nestled in the middle of one of the most beautiful recreational areas in the canton of Aargau, framed by Lake Hallwil and idyllic hills, Meisterschwanden offers an impressive panorama of the central Swiss Alps with Rigi, Pilatus and Titlis.
The municipality offers a high quality of life, landscape, culture and diversity in a manageable space.
The two village centres of Meisterschwanden and Tennwil, with their individual charm, are shaped by Lake Hallwil and the Lindenberg, but also by the picture-book landscape of the entire Seetal. Medieval small towns, hiking trails and lidos, romantic landscapes, castles and fortresses.
The Tennwil workers' lido and the Seerose lido are, so to speak, the hub of the gently developed tourist area. The Hallwilersee Shipping Company, founded in 1888, connects the villages of the Seetal by water and lends a typical holiday atmosphere.
The excellent and creative gastronomy is rounded off by a wide range of accommodation options - from camping under the open sky to a four-star hotel with seminar rooms and wellness oases.
Living customs
Meisterschwanden attaches great importance to the tradition of Meitlisonntag. The festivities are based on a historical event. According to oral tradition, the custom is said to go back to the successful intervention of the Seetal women in the Second Villmergen War of 1712. With their appearance, they had helped the Reformed Bernese to victory. In gratitude for their help and their courageous commitment, the Bernese army commander Colonel Tscharner gave the brave fighters "three days of their own", on which they were allowed to rule over the "Mannevolch".
The days of women's rule are Meitli Thursday, Meitli Saturday and Meitli Sunday. They are celebrated annually around the second Sunday in January."

Kindergarten - Schools
About 200 children are taught in 10 classes at the school. In addition to three kindergarten and six primary school classes, five secondary and secondary school classes of the Kreisschule Oberes Seetal are housed in the Eggen school building. Another 6 Sereal classes are in Sarmenstorf. The district school is in the neighbouring village of Fahrwangen.
The Kreisschule Oberes Seetal KSOS offers the levels of secondary, secondary and district school for pupils from the municipalities of Meisterschwanden, Sarmenstorf, Fahrwangen and Bettwil.
With the exception of the two kindergarten classes in the Hinterdorf kindergarten, all children attend lessons in the attractively located, modern and well-equipped Eggen school complex.
In primary school, children with special needs have been taught inclusively since the summer of 2009 and at secondary level since the summer of 2010. The information "Inclusive schooling in the schools in the Upper Seetal" shows what support and assistance inclusive schooling can offer and what expectations the inclusive school IS does not meet.
Regular, cross-class activities maintain contact between the older and younger children.
