The historic Engadine house "Chasa Plaz" was built in 1750 and completely redesigned and renovated in Art Nouveau style during the Belle Époque, between 1893 and 1912, by the couple Anna von Planta and Theodor Bonorand. The last extensive renovation work, however, was only recently carried out - around 2000 and 2010. As the name suggests, the house is located in a wonderful position directly on the historic church square of Ardez. The quiet and picturesque village of Ardez is considered a model village of Romanesque settlement and residential culture and its townscape, largely unchanged since the 17th century, with its characteristic presence of the Steinfels castle ruins, is of unique beauty. Due to this exceptionally intact, closed historical village structure, Ardez was chosen in 1975 as one of the four Swiss model villages. This resulted in numerous exemplary restorations, accompanied by the cantonal monument preservation office. It is therefore hardly surprising that in the last two decades, an increasing number of leading figures from the Swiss cultural scene and the business community have settled in Ardez.
