LOMMIS
The political municipality of Lommis was established on 01.01.1995 according to the requirements of the cantonal constitution and the guidelines of the cantonal council. It is situated in a very attractive location in the Lauchetal, consisting of the three villages of Lommis, Weingarten, and Kalthäusern, covering an area of around 853 ha. Of this, about 55 ha is settlement area and 220 ha is forest. It is connected by about 5 km of state roads and around 24 km of municipal and field roads. Currently, around 1,225 residents live in the municipality. The municipality is conveniently located in terms of transport. The state roads from Wängi and Matzingen connect in the village center of Lommis with the one from Affeltrangen. A cross-connection to the south exists as a well-developed municipal road to St. Margarethen - Münchwilen. The motorway connections Münchwilen and Matzingen to the A1 can be reached in about 5 minutes each. The cities of Frauenfeld, Wil, and Weinfelden are all about 10 km away. In addition, Lommis has an airfield with a grass runway of 650 m in length and approval for up to 2.5 t total weight. Shopping opportunities are available in Lommis at the Denner satellite, where the post office has been integrated since November 2009. Dairy products are available in a wide selection at the cheese dairy in Lommis. A total of four restaurants are happy to pamper their guests. In a central location, a double kindergarten and a modern, newly built school facility for grades 1 to 6 have been established. The secondary school is attended in Affeltrangen or Tobel, and the cantonal school can be completed in Frauenfeld as another level. The municipality provides the multipurpose hall for various events.
