Maggia is a political municipality in the Vallemaggia district, in the canton of Ticino. The municipality is located in the lower and middle part of the Maggia Valley northwest of Locarno. The various districts are located on both sides of the Maggia. The municipality of Maggia was formed on April 4, 2004, through the merger of the previous municipalities of Aurigeno, Coglio,
