Listed heritage property with a view over Lake Thun
This colorful villa in Spiez is much more than a house – it is an architectural masterpiece with history. Designed by the Basel architect Erwin Rudolf Heman, who also left his mark on the Cantonal Employment Office Basel, it was not only planned together with his wife but also designed in every detail of its interior architecture. Each room surprises with its own, composed color concept – from wall panels to built-in wardrobes to artistically painted ceilings. The variety of original preserved Art Deco elements is unparalleled.
The villa, which is under monument protection, was carefully restored in 2009 in close collaboration with the monument preservation authorities. In particular, the sanitary and electrical installations were completely renewed – they meet today's standards while the historical character of the house remains palpable in every corner.
The villa was built in 1906/1907 on behalf of the last private lord of the castle of Spiez – a Basel doctor who operated his practice on the ground floor. The still labeled "waiting room" at the entrance is a charming testimony to this history.
