This unique and listed building, built in 1892 as a "villa with offices", is the last remaining building of the former Erlen brewery.
It is an impressive example of historical industrial architecture in the style of a castle-like brewery building of the 19th century with a carefully designed brick facade, plastered base area and decorative elements such as a belt cornice and elaborately worked door and window lintels.
In 1987, the building was converted into four small apartments, while some historical elements were preserved, including the rare concrete vault or the original staircase with wooden railing.
Since 2005, the house has been lovingly transformed into a stylish single-family home by a couple of artists and architects. Highlights include a spacious living room with stucco ceiling and fine parquet flooring, individually designed rooms with harmonious colours and artistic ceiling objects.
The existing kitchens and bathrooms allow for flexible use, whether as a residential and commercial building, as a single-family home or as a division into several residential units. The elevated location, only about 200 m from the Landsgemeindeplatz, offers a fantastic view over the old town, the valley and the Glarus mountain world from the upper floors.
