The house, whose foundation dates back to the 16th century, is located in the picturesque old town of La Neuveville, an interesting and historic town on the shores of Lake Biel. It is one of the many colorfully designed houses, built and remodeled with many charming details, in short: a <
In 2004, architect Marc Hübscher carried out a comprehensive renovation of the house, transforming the historic, uninhabited building into a masterpiece that unites history and modernity.
Upon entering the house on the ground floor, you step into a modernity that would not be suspected from the outside. A wall of glass and wood separates the entrance area from the versatile space in the basement, where there is a washing machine, plenty of storage space, and a long party table.
The white-lacquered fir wood staircase leads you to the first floor, which impresses not only with its modern anthracite-colored floor but also with its brightness and the original wooden ceiling from past times. A part of the ceiling has been designed with glass, giving you a glimpse into the upper floor. This creative style object can be found on every floor. In the back third of the room, separated by an elegant <
On the next floor is the chic kitchen, which would even make the hearts of top chefs beat faster. The countertop is made of Dekton, and adjacent to it is a long wooden dining table. The rest of the room can be furnished as a cozy living room.
Via the beautiful, glass-walled and single-piece thermoblock staircase, you reach the 3rd floor. Here, a spacious bedroom could be created, especially since there is another bathroom on this floor, one with a shower. This is again an architecturally interesting structure, a separate cube in the middle of this floor.
Finally, the attic enchants the style lover with its aesthetics, the coziness of the sloping roof, the Swedish stove, and the sunlit terrace. You enter this through a floor-to-ceiling glass door that can be completely folded to the side. Let your gaze wander over the roofs of La Neuveville and enjoy the sun and occasionally a cooling off from the installed shower.
