In 1958, the Zurich architect Hans Vollenweider built this holiday house in an elevated position with a view, which is considered a prime example of modern mountain architecture. It is characterized by an open living room facing south with a terrace in front and a practical, spacious room layout. During the renovations (2007, 2009, 2020/21), the character and basic idea of the architect were preserved, while at the same time adapting the comfort to today's needs: Renovation/restoration of the 'master bedroom' and kitchen by the Engelberg monastery joinery (2007/09); replacement of all sanitary and electrical installations, replacement of the former electric storage heaters with a highly efficient solid wood heating system with wood gasifier/flash fire technology and conversion of the basement (2013; architecture: Gabriela Güntert, Zurich); renewal of the terrace and south facade in Swiss larch wood, renewal of the power supply, water supply and drainage and introduction of fiber optics into the house (2020/21). The house has several outdoor areas that can be used in different ways (seating area, hot tub, 'outdoor kitchen').
