Stalden, the gateway to Saas and Mattertal
The municipality of Stalden is located about 7 km south of Visp in the Vispertal, where it
branches into the two valleys of Nikolai and Saastal. In 2015, Stalden had around
1100 inhabitants and has a well-developed infrastructure. Recently, the municipality invested in a
new youth center and in facilities for a lunch program and a daycare center.
The school complex houses the local primary school and the regional orientation school and
was restored together with the gymnasium. Next to the old village part, the multipurpose facility with an integrated parking garage, a fire station,
music rooms, and a civil protection facility forms another centerpiece of the village. On its roof,
there is also a large playground and break area, which was also renovated in the summer of 2013 and equipped with additional
play equipment.

Stalden is a central starting point to reach popular destinations like Saas-Fee and Zermatt by
public transport.
