Nidau is a small town in the canton of Bern, which forms its own municipal community and citizen community. The city now belongs to the administrative district of Biel/Bienne.

Geographically, Nidau is located directly on the border with the city of Biel/Bienne, with which it has now grown together. The city is located on an island between the Nidau-Büren Canal and the Zihl and borders Lake Biel. The two rivers merge further downstream.
