Unique property for enthusiasts in Davos – Historical Walser house with barn at the foot of the Flüelapass.
Welcome to Davos, in the idyllic village at 1804 m above sea level, where we offer an extraordinary property for sale. This charming estate combines history, nature, and coziness and is perfect for those seeking something special.
The house has a long and fascinating history. The Davos Walser acquired the Flüela Valley around 1300 from the Bishop of Chur. The building itself was constructed in the 17th century, specifically in 1700, and thus bears traces of centuries-old craftsmanship. The upper kitchen with the vaulted cellar below could originally have been a residential tower that was later converted into a multi-generational house.
The entrance to the rooms shows Gothic elements, while the two heated rooms date back to the 18th century. Especially the large room with the carved Bible board, coffered ceiling made of Swiss stone pine, and the carved saying "I have dedicated my roof to God" reflect the historical charm.
The five cellars, with milk racks for milking and storing butter and cheese wheels, indicate year-round habitation.
Around 1800, about 60 people still lived year-round in the Flüela Valley, underscoring the house's significance as a vibrant center of the village.
The house may also have been used as a Suste, a place for the temporary storage of grain and salt, as evidenced by the door of the furthest cellar leading outside. The pass road once led directly past the house, and shooting holes are still visible in the wall – indications of the historical significance and protective function of the building.
The Walser house has been gently renovated in recent years with great attention to detail. The 6-room chalet impresses with its incomparable charm: Preserved historical rooms, original building elements such as floors, doors, and stairs give the house a warm, authentic atmosphere.
During a visit, you will feel the energy and special character of this building.
The house has two natural cellars in the basement, a cozy living kitchen with an open fireplace on the ground floor, a cozy room with a tiled stove (wood heating) and built-in buffet, an entrance area with an adjacent room, a wet room with bathtub, sink, and washing machine, as well as a guest toilet.
On the upper floor, there are four spacious bedrooms. An extension houses a historical kitchen, ideal for creative use.
The generous outdoor area invites gardening, relaxation, or social hours outdoors. The property is fully developed and has year-round access. The house has a volume of 1,099 m³, the separate large barn 942 m³. The barn and house together have a volume of 2,041 m³.
