When horse-drawn carriages still shaped the cityscape in Thun, local architect Hans Tschaggeny created a magnificent home for himself and his family. Just a stone's throw away from properties he himself designed, such as the Pestalozzi school or the former restaurant "Drei Eidgenossen", now known as Walder-Haus - both of which are among his works.
Now, the historic townhouse on Waisenhausstrasse is looking for a new owner. The magnificent rooms and valuable historical elements from over 100 years can still be admired. The building appears straightforward, solid, and timeless. Today's living requirements are also met with high ceilings, large rooms, plenty of light, and a beautiful view.
Later, the house came into the possession of a foundation that used it as a senior living community in recent years. An elevator, barrier-free bathrooms, and a functional kitchen still remind of this use.
The building has always been well-maintained and kept in good condition. However, a renovation of the technical systems and the replacement of individual surfaces are required in the short term.
The house is surrounded by a square garden that offers sunny spots in all directions. A pretty, solid, and heated garden pavilion complements the property as additional living space. Vehicles can be parked on the north side of the house.
Whether as a large single-family home or for communal use with several parties - the property offers many usage possibilities.
