Schönried, with around 7,200 inhabitants, belongs to the municipality of Saanen and is part of the exclusive Gstaad-Saanenland region. Surrounded by a picturesque alpine landscape, the region is located in the western Bernese Oberland.
During the winter and summer season, around 30,000 people stay in the Saanenland in hotels, restaurants, holiday homes, holiday apartments, or school camps. The Gstaad brand today stands worldwide for charm and discreet luxury. In addition, a variety of leisure activities in summer and winter provide first-class relaxation. More than a thousand cultural and sporting events round off the leisure options.
The Schönried train station is integrated into the Montreux-Oberland Bernois (MOB) rail network and offers regular and fast connections to Gstaad, Montreux, and Zweisimmen. Complementary bus lines connect the surrounding villages and tourist attractions. The well-developed road network allows access to Thun, Montreux, and Lausanne in about 1-1.5 hours. Zurich and Geneva can be reached in 2.5 hours each.
