Naters is a historically significant town on the right bank of the Rhône. The municipality located in the valley borders the towns of Bitsch, Riederalp, Termen, Brig, Eggerberg, and Lalden. The area extends from 673 m above sea level up to the Belalp at the 4,195-meter-high Aletschhorn. In 2013, the municipalities of Birgisch, Mund, and Naters merged.
